Character Profiles For Final Music Video - Session 9

Together we came up with information about each characters in our music video so they were more in depth characters. Laura then collected this together and created posters on it. Here it is:

Props For Our Final Music - Session 8

Here are some important props which will be a key part of our music video:

This globe is used in the chorus with the lyrics 'Ugly is the world we're on' and it will be spinning. Therefore, we are following Goodwin's theory of the lyrics matching the visuals. The reason that we chose this globe particularly is it has a 'vintage' style which would combine well with the 'spooky' elements in our music video compared to a brightly coloured globe.

Furthermore, we are planning on using a piece of clothing belonging to the male character who has been killed and the female protagonist finding it in the woods. The reason we chose the type of fashion of a flannel shirt is it is more masculine which means the audience can associate it easily with the male character.

Mood Board for Music Video

Today my group and I thought that it would be a good idea to create a 'mood board', by adding pictures of some of our most iconic ideas for our final music video. The reason we thought this would be a good idea is it would help us get more to grips with how we want the music video to look and how we want to portray the 'spooky' feeling to it along with the 'typical teenage girl sleepover' style at the beginning.

We've added things such as the candles that we plan to show first in the music video and possibly them being blown out at the end of the music video. We chose to include a handwritten note as it is something that is left by the main girl.

Another thing that we added was a picture of a torch (which adds to the 'spooky' feel with regards to the lighting) as well as an outdoor location where there are trees (where the girl finds the boys shirt on the floor).

Storyboard For Our Final Music Video - Session 7

Here is an animatic of our music video storyboard for Transylvania by McFly that we made collaboratively:

We have spent a lot of time on it to make sure it was as detailed as possible so we knew what we would be doing when filming.

Lip Syncing Practice - Session 6

As a group we decided that we would do some lip syncing practice, I did my footage at home while Laura and Tammy did theirs at school. We did this for practice before filming the actual video so we we were familiar with lip syncing and putting it in time with the actual music when it comes to editing. Furthermore, we wanted to make sure it was clear the girls were having a conversation as suggested in the lyrics, but obviously they won't be in different locations for the final video. The part of the music video this takes place is in the chorus when it switches to the sleepover and myself telling the story. Here is how it turned out:

Costumes for the music video - Session 5

As a group we have decided that I should play the lead role in the music video as I am the one telling the story within the verses of the song. When it comes to the costumes during the sleepover part of the narrative we will be a more informal and comfy dress code so we are following the stereotypes of what people wear at them. Therefore, we came to the agreement that we will be wearing onesies as shown below:

While for the serious narrative I will be wearing more formal dress so the audience are able to recognise the contrast in tone to the different narratives within our music video.

Evolution Of The Band Logo - Session 4

Today we completed our band logo which Laura started by drawing a falcon in Paint. The reason that we thought we should include a falcon is because obviously it is a key part to the band name 'Firelight Falcons'. When it came to the colouring Laura suggested that we added oranges and reds as it fits into the theme of fire, which ones again reflects our bands name.

Here is the complete drawing Laura did:

Then I put my idea onto it by making it look more like a logo with a red background circle shape behind it with a yellow outline.

Here is the development of it:

Finally, we had to think of the typography on the logo. Tammy did some research and sent us ideas of what we could use. Here were our options:

Font choice 1

Font choice 2

Font choice 3

Font choice 4
We all decided that we liked font choice 2 the best. Therefore, I tried to find a font most like it and chose Kristen ITC in font size 36. However, then we had to decide on its placement.

Here are all the places we could have put 'Firelight Falcons':

Option 1

Option 2

Option 3

We came to an agreement that we like it inside the main red circle at the bottom. Here is our final logo:

Development Of Merchandise - Session 3

As I have previously posted we have changed our band name to 'Firelight Falcons' which meant that we needed to start a new with merchandise ideas for our website.Today, we came up with 2 rough draft t-shirt designs that we will later develop and make more professional if we stick with that idea. Here are the 2 t-shirts (They both will be made available in black and white).

To make the images larger click on them.

Laura also completed a rough sketch using inspiration from Google Image of easy to draw falcons. We thought that this was useful as it will help us when thinking of more merchandise ideas.

Here is a look at the brief sketch:

Here are some ideas to help show a growth from our original proposal to our final overall package.

A Change In Our Band Name - Session 2

In a group meeting today we realised that someone out of our class had already chosen to use a fox within  their band name and a logo centred around it. Therefore, as we want to be more original, Tammy, Laura, and myself have decided that we would think of a new name. However, we still wanted to keep 'Firelight' within our name and use alliteration to make it memorable, so decided on using 'Falcons' instead of 'Foxes'. Therefore, our new band name is 'Firelight Falcons', instead of 'Firelight Foxes' to make sure that we are different to the other group using a fox as their logo/name.We will now start to develop a logo, some merchandise, and other things for our new band name.

We have already found some inspiration for our logo, as well as some of our merchandise (we found these on Google images):

Here is a bit of inspiration for what sort of thing we might like to use for our band logo. We like how it is simple, yet effective, and also relates to our bands name.

Here are a couple images that we found which we think would look good on a bracelet, which can be something that we sell on our website. The shape of the falcon on these images will also be a good fit horizontally on a bracelet.

We will now be working on maybe sketching some things up from what has inspired us, and we'll also keep updating and developing our ideas.

Analysis on an artist/band website: The Vamps

Here is a textual analysis on the band The Vamps. The reason I chose this band is because they link to McFly as band members of McFly have co-wrote songs for them. Therefore, making this useful to when we start making our website.

Choosing a band name and beginning ideas on merchandise - Session 1

Today myself, Laura and Tammy decided not to use the original bands name McFly to make it more of our own. Therefore, collectively we came together and brainstormed some ideas to one another about the band name. After a discussion we settled on the name 'Lightfire Foxes'. We chose this as we believe that it represents the band's genre well and think that we could use an intertextual reference to a fox maybe in our final music video (making it more personal to the band that we are creating, as well as their style). This will fit the theme of the video as at points the settings will be gloomier and dark.

The topic of what type of merchandise our band would sell (that we can add onto our website) and the brand we are going to create was also considered.

These are the colours which we have decided to sell the wristbands in:
We decided not to make the colour range too vast as then some colours may not be liked by some audience members. However, we decided a key colour would be oranges and the red as it fits in with the idea of the fox.

Here's a look at 3 of the ideas we have so far for our wristbands. As these are rough drafts, they shall later be made to look more professional and more variations should be released.

Production/ Record Company logo

We thought that it would be a good idea to think of a record company name and logo to help add to and create our overall package. The name we decided on as a group was 'LET Studios', firstly because it's the letters of our first names (Laura, Elsie, Tammy), and because we generally liked how the word 'Let' sounded in the title (it makes us sound productive).

Here is the final product, click on the photo to see it without wording:
